Griselda Zetino

Griselda Zetino is Director of Communications for Arizona at Helios Education Foundation. In her role, she helps lead strategic communications and storytelling efforts that advance the Foundation’s mission and elevate critical education issues across the state.

Prior to joining Helios, Ms. Zetino spent more than a decade as a journalist for local and national media outlets. Much of her career was spent as a radio news reporter for KTAR News 92.3 FM in Phoenix, where she covered education and other issues affecting Arizona communities. Her work earned several honors, including a 2022 Edward R. Murrow Award for Hard News and the Arizona Broadcasters Association’s Newcomer Award in 2019. She currently serves on the board of the Arizona Latino Media Association.

Born in Mexico, Ms. Zetino came to the United States at a young age and grew up undocumented in Mesa, Arizona. When she graduated from high school, a state law had recently taken effect preventing undocumented students like her from receiving state financial aid and requiring them to pay out-of-state tuition. With support from teachers, mentors and scholarships, she attended Arizona State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications in 2011.

Her connection to Helios is deeply personal. The American Dream Fund, which Helios helped establish, provided critical financial support for her college education. Today, her education journey informs her commitment to using communications and storytelling to expand opportunity for Arizona students.
